According to most prognosticators, the US Senate which has been controlled by Democrat party members is likely to tilt to Republican party control.1 If this is so, we here at IVMV have some policy wishes for Senate activity. Just using the word activity indicates a major difference. Due to the very narrow Democrat control, Republican Party disarray and general dissatisfaction from constituencies, the dysfunctional Senate, as a member of 118th Congress, has done very little.2 We insist that a Republican led Senate become an active component in positive change for the country. For this to happen the Senate must be the anchor in the Congress to restore some economic sanity. The current 118th version of the Senate has been in lock step with the Biden administration and a major player in the economic disaster that has been the US economy since Biden’s election. The Senate has also been a major player in increasing the national debt to over $35 Trillion. (For the latest figures on the national debt see the Home page at ivotemyvote.com.)
Among many other things it is essential that a Republican controlled Senate address and correct:
- The looming bankruptcies of Social Security and Medicare with the establishment of a consumption tax.
- The Biden energy policies that have destroyed our national energy resources by lifting restrictions on oil and natural gas production as well as pipeline delivery, that have driven the still rising costs of living across the board.
- The loony social policies that have biological males competing with biological females in women’s sports with legislative dictum.
- Foreign policy that is being conducted from the standpoint of weakness by supporting the policies of President-elect Trump.
- Deadlock with the House of Representatives and work together to pass a comprehensive immigration bill that the President can sign and enforce.
The 118th US Senate has been a disaster for the country. With the upcoming election it is our wish here at IVMV that the Senate, with Republican control, will support a strong Republican President with the policies that will get us back on track.
